The Enforcement Directorate has offered Flipkart a chance to resolve a FEMA violation case by admitting fault, paying a penalty, and dismantling a seller network, under compounding rules.
The alleged breaches spanned from 2009 to 2015, before Walmart’s 2018 acquisition, and include post-2016 activities.
Amazon India was also summoned, though it declined to comment.
The move may aid India’s trade talks with the U.S.
Meanwhile, the Competition Commission of India is investigating Flipkart subsidiaries over alleged competition law violations, following a report received in September 2024.
Flipkart and the ED have not commented.
