Croatia has launched the EU’s Entry/Exit System (EES) on October 12, 2025, requiring non-EU travelers to provide biometric data—fingerprints and a photo—during their first entry into the Schengen Area, including Croatia.
The system replaces passport stamps by digitally recording entry and exit times, personal details, and passport information, with facial recognition used for future visits.
The rollout will expand across all border points in phases, becoming fully operational by April 10, 2026.
EU citizens are exempt.
The move coincides with strong tourism growth, with a 5% rise in arrivals and overnight stays in September 2025 compared to 2024.
