A 15-year-old military horse injured in a 2024 London incident has retired to a UK sanctuary.
A 15-year-old military horse named Quaker has retired to The Horse Trust sanctuary in Buckinghamshire after being injured in April 2024 when he and four other Household Cavalry horses bolted during a training exercise in London, startled by construction noise. The incident, caused by rubble falling through a plastic tunnel, led to widespread disruption, vehicle damage, and injuries to four people. Quaker underwent extensive veterinary care and surgery before recovering. He now joins 32 other former military horses at the sanctuary, which supports retired service animals through long-term care and respite programs. The Army and The Horse Trust continue their partnership to ensure the well-being of horses after service.
