UK trains offer free travel to veterans and military during Remembrance week, Oct 29–Nov 9.
Starting October 29 and continuing through November 9, UK train operators are offering free travel to active military personnel, veterans, and Royal British Legion volunteers and collectors during the Remembrance period.
Free trips include travel to London terminal stations on November 8 or 9, with return journeys allowed only on November 9, and free return travel for non-London services on November 9.
The initiative, marking the railway’s 200th anniversary and the 80th anniversary of VE Day, honors the rail industry’s wartime contributions.
Eligible travelers must present valid ID such as a MOD90 card, Veterans Railcard, or Legion volunteer ID.
The scheme is supported by the Rail Delivery Group and Transport Secretary Heidi Alexander, with the Royal British Legion praising it for reducing barriers to participation in Remembrance events and Poppy Day.
