Trever Wallace of Cass County, Michigan, was sentenced to 38 months to 10 years in prison for stealing a mature walnut tree worth over $1,000, which was found at a lumber yard in December 2024.
The 38-year-old, with nine prior felony convictions, pleaded guilty to larceny over $1,000 and being a habitual offender just before his trial.
Judge Mark Herman cited Wallace’s decades-long pattern of theft and repeated failures to reform, including prior participation in rehabilitation programs.
The tree was recovered before sale.
Wallace is to be transferred to the Michigan Department of Corrections intake center in Jackson.
