flag Scandium International Mining Corp. secured a lease for Australia’s first primary scandium mine, targeting 38,500 kg annual output.

Scandium International Mining Corp. received Mining Lease No. 1893 on October 7, 2025, for its Nyngan Scandium Project in New South Wales, concluding a nine-year approval process. The 21-year lease enables the development of what the company calls the world’s first primary scandium mine, a surface operation expected to produce 38,500 kg of high-purity scandium oxide annually. Located 20 km west of Nyngan, the project will process 75,000 tons of limonite ore yearly with a 409 ppm scandium head grade, using less than 20% of the total resource. Construction is planned to begin immediately, with full production targeted within three years. The project supports Western efforts to diversify critical mineral supply chains amid rising demand for scandium in aerospace, semiconductors, and solid-state batteries.
