Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched 16 fisheries projects worth over Rs 693 crore across India on October 11, 2025, as part of the Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana and Fisheries Infrastructure Development Fund.
Key initiatives include a Rs 100 crore Integrated Aqua Park in Odisha’s Hirakud, a Rs 59.13 crore fish market in Bhubaneswar, a Rs 170 crore trout fishery in Uttarakhand, and a Rs 70 crore Nutrition Hub in Uttar Pradesh.
The projects, part of a larger Rs 35,440 crore agricultural package, aim to strengthen fisheries infrastructure, create jobs, boost exports, and advance India’s Blue Economy.
Modi also launched the PM Dhan Dhaanya Krishi Yojana and Mission for Aatmanirbharta in Pulses, with participation from officials and farmers across 100 aspirational districts.
