Oxfordshire Freemasons donate £60,000 to help 36 adults with disabilities gain work skills through a UK charity’s baking program.
The Oxfordshire Freemasons have granted £60,000 to Yellow Submarine, a UK charity supporting people with learning disabilities and autism, to expand its Life-Changing Bakes traineeship program.
The funding will help around 36 adults gain life and workplace skills through hands-on experience in the charity’s cafés and bakery, including recipe development and customer service.
The program offers personalized training, work placements, and qualifications to improve employment outcomes, addressing the national statistic that only 5% of adults with learning disabilities are in paid work.
The grant comes through the Masonic Charitable Foundation, which supports charitable initiatives across England and Wales.
Both charity leaders and Freemasons officials praised the initiative for fostering independence and increasing employment opportunities for marginalized adults.
