The Older Persons' Olympics returned to Oxfordshire in 2025, drawing 36 seniors in sports and awards.
The 'Older Persons' Olympics, also known as the Reading and Oxfordshire Senior Club Games, returned to Oxfordshire on October 7, 2025, for the first time since 2019, with 36 participants over 60 from Reading, West Oxfordshire, and South Oxfordshire and the Vale of White Horse.
Held at The White Horse Leisure and Tennis Centre, the event featured badminton, pickleball, short tennis, and table tennis, with Reading winning first place, followed by South and Vale in second and West Oxfordshire in third.
Winners received trophies, and overall champions were awarded medals and a shield.
Participants praised the event’s organization, social atmosphere, and opportunities to stay active.
The games, modeled after a long-running London initiative, were organized by GLL, a charitable social enterprise, through recruitment from local senior sports sessions.
Officials emphasized the importance of physical and social engagement for older adults, expressing enthusiasm for the event’s future.
