A massive green methanol plant in Inner Mongolia successfully tests its biomass gasifier, using wind power and cornstalks to produce low-carbon fuel, backed by major shipping firms.
A green methanol project in Hinggan League, Inner Mongolia, has successfully tested its biomass gasifier, a key step toward launching what could become the world’s largest green methanol facility.
Backed by a 2.296 billion yuan investment, the project uses wind-generated hydrogen and local cornstalks to produce 250,000 tonnes annually, with plans to expand to 1.45 million tonnes.
The milestone confirms the gasifier’s reliability and secures new funding and agreements with shipping giants Maersk and Hapag-Lloyd, supporting global decarbonization efforts.
