Justice Surya Kant urged equitable access to justice in India’s east and northeast, stressing it over GDP growth.
On October 11, 2025, Supreme Court Justice Surya Kant, Executive Chairman of NALSA, stressed that true progress in India’s eastern and northeastern regions must be measured by equitable access to justice, dignity, and opportunity, not GDP.
Speaking at a NALSA conference in Guwahati, he highlighted ongoing challenges like poverty, child marriage, drug abuse, and marginalization of tribal and tea garden communities.
He emphasized expanding legal services beyond courts through initiatives like DAWN, ASHA SoP, SAMVAD, and a program aiding families of defense personnel, calling for greater inter-agency cooperation, technology use, and listening to vulnerable voices to ensure justice reaches daily life.
El Juez Surya Kant instó al acceso equitativo a la justicia en el este y el noreste de la India, haciendo hincapié en ello sobre el crecimiento del PIB.
