ICE arrested an undocumented Indian man in Oklahoma during a traffic stop, citing a New York license with a fake name, prompting federal criticism over licensing standards.
ICE arrested Anmol Anmol, an undocumented immigrant from India, on September 23, 2025, after he was stopped by the Oklahoma Highway Patrol during a routine traffic check.
He was operating a commercial vehicle with a New York driver’s license listing his name as “No Name Given Anmol,” prompting criticism from the Department of Homeland Security, which said New York failed to verify citizenship or require full legal names.
DHS called the licensing practice a public safety risk, especially for commercial drivers.
The arrest was credited to the 287(g) partnership between ICE and Oklahoma law enforcement.
The incident is part of broader federal immigration enforcement efforts under the Trump administration, which aims to deport nearly 600,000 undocumented migrants by the end of its first year.
