AIMIM expands to 100 seats in Bihar polls, seeking to represent Muslims amid major party exclusion.
The All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM), led by Asaduddin Owaisi, announced plans to contest around 100 seats in Bihar’s upcoming assembly elections—up from five in 2020—after being excluded from the INDIA bloc.
The party aims to establish a third political alternative in a state dominated by the BJP-led NDA and the Mahagathbandhan alliance.
AIMIM cited the need to represent Bihar’s Muslim community, which exceeds 17% of the population but remains underrepresented, and has been exploring alliances with like-minded parties after outreach to RJD leaders went unanswered.
The elections are set for November 6 and 11, with results on November 14.
