South Africa's court rejects Maersk's challenge, upholding ICTSI's R11bn deal to run Durban's key container terminal.
A South African court has dismissed a legal challenge by Maersk’s APM Terminals against a R11bn deal awarding a 25-year concession to Philippines-based ICTSI to operate Durban’s Container Terminal 2.
The High Court ruled that ICTSI met financial capacity requirements despite not meeting a strict solvency ratio, finding the tender process fair and transparent.
The decision clears the way for modernization of the terminal, which handles a majority of South Africa’s container traffic, aiming to reduce congestion and improve national supply chain efficiency.
