The San Marcos girls volleyball team won its second straight Channel League title, defeating Ventura 3-0 on Senior Night, improving to 13-0 in league play. The all-senior squad, led by Cora Loomer’s 14 kills and Lila Westmacott’s 32 assists, showcased strong defense and teamwork, including a crucial 9-0 run in the third set. The victory, celebrated after a senior recognition ceremony, marks a milestone for the 15 seniors who’ve played together since childhood. Meanwhile, Santa Barbara City College’s women’s volleyball team defeated Ventura College 3-1, extending their winning streak to four games and improving to 14-1 overall and 4-0 in the Western State Conference. Stephanie Groswirt had a standout performance with 13 kills, 21 assists, 14 digs, and two aces, while Morgan Guardado recorded 27 assists and 21 digs. The Vaqueros, led by co-captains Bayley Padia, Valeria Bellodas, and Guardado, remain undefeated in conference play and prepare to face LA Pierce on October 15.
