A rise in skin blistering cases linked to rove beetles has been reported in Henan, Anhui, Shandong, and Shaanxi provinces, prompting health warnings in China. The small, reddish, black-striped insects, prevalent in moist, humid areas after rain, release a highly acidic venom when crushed, causing painful rashes and blisters. Authorities advise gently removing them without swatting and rinsing exposed skin with soap and water for at least 15 minutes. Medical attention is recommended for worsening symptoms like darkened skin, fever, or spreading redness.
