Over 250 employees of B9 Beverages, owner of Bira 91 craft beer, have demanded the removal of founder Ankur Jain, citing unpaid salaries, overdue statutory dues, and poor governance amid a financial crisis.
The company, which reported a ₹748 crore net loss in FY24 and saw sales drop to 6–7 million cases, halted production in July and September, cutting staff from over 700 to 260.
Employees allege unpaid taxes and provident fund contributions totaling around ₹50 crore, while investor BlackRock withdrew a planned ₹500 crore investment.
Jain acknowledged payment delays due to regulatory issues and fundraising setbacks but denied knowledge of the petition.
The company has not yet filed FY25 results.
