One year after a blast forced the first closure since 1952, Avera St. Anthony Hospital in O’Neill, Nebraska, has made major recovery strides.
The emergency department reopened in 25 days by repurposing inpatient beds, and the damaged kidney dialysis center was rebuilt with new equipment after patients were temporarily treated in South Dakota.
The hospital replaced 75 windows, installed a new chiller system, and plans a larger generator and hard flooring.
Leadership credited community support and teamwork for the progress, stating the facility is now stronger than before.
