Judge Sidney H. Stein sentenced Uribe to six months of home detention, $292,000 in forfeiture, and $866,000 in restitution, citing his honesty, remorse, and crucial cooperation in convicting Menendez on 16 counts, including acting as a foreign agent for Egypt.
Uribe admitted to providing bribes, including a Mercedes-Benz and cash, in exchange for political favors.
His testimony helped secure an 11-year sentence for Menendez and a 4.5-year term for his wife.
Two other co-conspirators received prison sentences of seven and eight years.
Prosecutors praised Uribe’s bravery in testifying against a powerful senator, while his defense team noted he faced harassment after cooperating.
