Chinese wind turbine company Ming Yang plans to build the UK’s largest wind turbine manufacturing facility in Ardersier, Scotland, with up to £1.5 billion in investment and 1,500 jobs created.
The site is in a green freeport offering tax and customs incentives, with production expected to start by late 2028.
The project follows two years of talks with UK and Scottish governments and aims to expand the offshore wind industry ecosystem.
Ming Yang, which partnered with Octopus Energy on wind projects, said the facility supports the UK’s clean energy goals.
While some UK officials raised national security concerns about foreign investment, the government stated all decisions will align with national security interests.
