Governor Andy Beshear's Pre-K for All initiative, launched in May 2025, has gained widespread support across Kentucky, with over 90% of town hall attendees backing expanded preschool access and funding.
More than 60,000 residents have urged lawmakers to support the effort, joined by 63 county judge-executives, 31 mayors, and the Kentucky Association of School Superintendents.
The initiative aims to address the fact that more than half of Kentucky’s children enter kindergarten unprepared, with advocates highlighting early education’s role in boosting academic readiness, social skills, and early intervention.
While the campaign has bipartisan backing and strong public enthusiasm, no legislation or funding plan has yet been enacted to make universal pre-K a reality.
