A jury was dismissed in Tony Kelly’s trial over a disputed 2011 land sale, with a retrial possible in November 2025.
A jury has been discharged in the misconduct trial of former NSW minister Tony Kelly over the 2011 sale of the Currawong property, which was sold to a company linked to David Linz and David Litver for $9.5 million after a 14-year delay and later resold to the government for $12.2 million. The sale occurred during caretaker government, raising concerns, and senior bureaucrat Peter Watkins was found to have backdated documents and lied to the ICAC, receiving a 12-month good behaviour bond. While the ICAC found no corruption in the land deal, it recommended Kelly be prosecuted for making a false document and misconduct in public office, a decision the Director of Public Prosecutions declined. A retrial may be possible, with a court mention scheduled for November 26, 2025.
