Jeremy Van Moorsel, a runner from Niagara, completed the 420-mile Fool’s Ultra marathon across New York state in seven days and 12 hours, finishing near Crown Point on the Vermont border.
Starting in Niagara Falls, he averaged over two marathons per day, navigating challenging mountainous terrain in the Adirondacks with more than 4,200 meters of elevation gain.
Initially running 15 to 17 hours daily, he faced extreme fatigue around day four, including nearly 39 hours of continuous running, but regained strength after a brief rest.
The race, which required completion within 13 days, marked a major achievement for Van Moorsel, who began running during the pandemic and has since completed multiple ultra-distance events, including a 320-km race.
He plans to run the 890-km Bruce Trail in May.
