IUCN and APRIL launch 5-year partnership to boost conservation in Indonesia using science and community-driven efforts.
The International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) and APRIL Group have launched a five-year partnership to strengthen conservation science and biodiversity outcomes in Indonesia and globally.
The collaboration focuses on advancing the IUCN Red List of Ecosystems, particularly through a peatlands assessment, and applying the IUCN RHINO approach within APRIL’s 150,693-hectare Restorasi Ekosistem Riau project on Sumatra’s Kampar Peninsula.
The initiative aims to improve biodiversity measurement, restoration, and reporting in forestry and land-use sectors, support national and international conservation goals, and promote science-based, community-informed action.
The partnership highlights how private sector engagement, grounded in credible data and measurable results, can contribute to ecosystem resilience and sustainable development.
