French quantum firm Pasqal opens U.S. HQ in Chicago, investing $65M and creating 50+ jobs by 2027.
French quantum computing company Pasqal will open its first U.S. headquarters in Chicago’s Illinois Quantum and Microelectronics Park, investing $65 million and creating at least 50 jobs.
The facility, on the former U.S. Steel South Works site, is set to open in 2027 and will house a powerful quantum computer, scaling from 200 to 10,000 qubits.
Backed by state funding, tax incentives, and a $15 million loan, the project is part of Governor JB Pritzker’s effort to make Illinois a national leader in quantum technology.
Pasqal, co-founded by Nobel laureate Alain Aspect, joins major tenants like IBM, Argonne National Laboratory, and Fermilab.
The company cited Illinois’ innovation ecosystem and scientific talent as key factors in its decision.
