Five Oxford and Didcot schools will keep permanent school streets using cameras to limit traffic during drop-off and pick-up.
Five primary schools in Oxford and Didcot will make their school streets programs permanent after a successful trial, restricting vehicle access during drop-off and pick-up times using automatic number plate recognition cameras.
The initiative, which began in September 2024 with volunteer-operated gates, aims to improve child safety, reduce congestion, and promote healthier travel.
Exemptions apply to residents, emergency services, blue badge holders, and service vehicles.
The decision follows earlier successes at four other schools and was confirmed by Oxfordshire County Council on October 9, 2025.
