Binghamton Mayor Jared Kraham has proposed expanding the city’s attorney’s office in the 2026 budget by adding a code prosecutor and a public safety attorney.
The code prosecutor will target vacant and nuisance properties, enforcing actions against owners, including out-of-town landlords.
The public safety attorney will assist police and fire departments with legal issues involving condemned buildings, nuisance cases under the Lockdown Law, and community safety initiatives.
A paralegal position will also be added to support legal operations.
