Base Power opens Texas factory in Austin, using $1B in funding to boost domestic battery production and support grid modernization.
Base Power, a home energy storage company, has launched its first Texas factory in downtown Austin, repurposing the former Austin-American Statesman printing press site, after securing $1 billion in Series C funding.
The investment, led by Addition with participation from Andreessen Horowitz and others, will expand domestic manufacturing of batteries and power electronics.
The company has qualified for Texas’s Aggregated Distributed Energy Resource program, enabling homeowners in select areas to connect their batteries to the grid, reduce energy costs, and earn income.
The project supports broader efforts to modernize the U.S. power grid and reshore high-tech manufacturing.
