Virginia launches aerospace STEM lab school, letting high schoolers earn college credits near NASA.
Virginia has launched the Aerospace Academy of the Eastern Shore Lab School in Northampton and Accomack counties, offering high school students a four-year STEM program with college courses in engineering, computer science, and cybersecurity.
Partnering with Eastern Shore Community College and Old Dominion University, students can earn an associate degree or technician certificate in aerospace fields, gain college credits, and participate in experiential learning near NASA’s Wallops Flight Facility.
The first 50 students were selected via lottery, with others on a waitlist.
The initiative supports Virginia’s goal to become an East Coast STEM hub and is part of a broader K-12 pipeline with seamless college transfer opportunities.
