Verizon to acquire Starry to boost urban broadband, targeting 90M households by 2028.
Verizon plans to acquire fixed wireless provider Starry to expand its high-speed internet in urban multi-dwelling units, leveraging Starry’s mmWave technology in five major cities.
The deal, pending regulatory approval, is expected to close in early 2026 and aims to help Verizon reach 90 million households and 8–9 million fixed wireless subscribers by 2028.
Starry serves about 100,000 customers in Boston, New York, Los Angeles, Denver, and Washington, D.C., and the acquisition supports Verizon’s broader strategy to grow its broadband footprint.
The company also reported strong quarterly results, with revenue of $34.5 billion and adjusted EPS of $1.22, slightly narrowing its full-year EPS guidance.
