Sinai Grace Hospital faces allegations it hired Wilfredo Berrios, a former employee accused of sexual assault, despite prior misconduct, including a 2019 arrest and termination from another hospital. Attorneys claim the hospital ignored warnings, possibly destroyed evidence, and fired a nurse who raised concerns. Berrios, who worked at a Livonia facility from 2020 to 2021, faces criminal charges and multiple civil lawsuits, including claims of assaults in August 2024 and August 2025. Two lawsuits have been filed against Berrios, Sinai Grace, Detroit Medical Center, and parent company Tenet Healthcare, with more expected. The hospital says it conducted thorough background checks, found no red flags, and promptly suspended Berrios upon learning of allegations, while cooperating with authorities. It recently received an "F" in a national patient safety report.
