Real estate developer Niranjan Hiranandani said Mumbai could eliminate all slums within seven to eight years, citing rapid infrastructure growth including over 300 kilometers of metro rail built in two years—surpassing 65 years of suburban rail expansion.
He praised Maharashtra’s investments in projects like a cross-harbor bridge, a second airport, and plans for a third, and defended industrialist Gautam Adani in the face of criticism over the Dharavi redevelopment project, urging more wealthy entrepreneurs to drive economic growth.
His comments follow the government’s May 2025 approval of a master plan for the large-scale urban renewal of Dharavi.
