Meghalaya's CM visited Manipur to promote peace and democratic restoration amid ethnic conflict and ongoing President’s Rule.
Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma visited Manipur from October 9 to 10, 2025, to engage with civil society, displaced persons, and political leaders amid ongoing ethnic tensions and 22 months of President’s Rule.
The NPP leader, whose party withdrew support from the BJP-led government in November 2024, emphasized peace, inclusive governance, and democratic restoration.
His visit marked the first by a top NPP figure since the crisis deepened.
Simultaneously, 25 BJP MLAs, including former Chief Minister N. Biren Singh, met with BJP leaders in Delhi, urging the Centre to restore elected rule before President’s Rule expires in February 2026.
The push reflects growing bipartisan demand for constitutional governance, with calls for consensus among Meitei, Kuki-Zo, and Naga leaders.
