Lucas Schaefer, Scott Anderson, and Thao Lam win 2025 Kirkus Prizes for outstanding books in fiction, nonfiction, and young readers' literature.
The 2025 Kirkus Prize winners are Lucas Schaefer for fiction with *The Slip*, a novel about identity and searching for a missing nephew; Scott Anderson for nonfiction with *King of Kings*, a historical account of the 1979 Iranian Revolution; and Thao Lam for young readers’ literature with *Everybelly*, a whimsical picture book celebrating belly buttons.
Each winner receives a $50,000 prize.
The awards, established in 2014 by Kirkus Reviews, honor books recognized for powerful storytelling and originality across genres.
Finalists included works by Angela Flournoy, Nicholas Boggs, and Arundhati Roy.
