Kerala High Court seeks BCI clarification on transgender law college seat reservations, pending Oct. 16 hearing.
The Kerala High Court has asked the Bar Council of India to clarify its stance on reserving seats for transgender students in government law colleges, following a petition by a transgender woman denied admission despite qualifying in the state law entrance exam.
The court questioned why reservations exist in medical and engineering fields but not law, urging the BCI to act.
The state has approved two additional seats per law college for transgender students pending BCI approval.
The case is set for further hearing on October 16, 2025.
