Jeremy Doolan of Amherstview and William Brett Todd of Prescott were sworn in as Justices of the Peace in Ontario on October 8, 2025, among 40 appointees from May. They will undergo a 10-month training program with mentorship before presiding over criminal, family, child welfare, and provincial offences cases, including bail hearings, search warrants, and peace bond applications. Doolan, a former Ontario Provincial Police staff sergeant with decades of law enforcement experience, and Todd, a former mayor and public servant with roles on the Licence Appeal Tribunal and Ontario Parole Board, both emphasized the importance of their diverse backgrounds in preparing for roles that significantly impact individuals’ lives.
