India extends U.S. LPG tender deadline to Oct. 17, 2025, to diversify energy imports and boost trade.
Indian state refiners have extended the deadline for their first joint long-term LPG tender from the U.S. to October 17, 2025, aiming to secure about 2 million metric tons for 2026 delivery.
The move, involving Indian Oil Corp, Bharat Petroleum Corp, and Hindustan Petroleum Corp, supports India’s strategy to diversify energy imports away from the Middle East, where over 90% of its LPG currently comes from, and to strengthen trade ties with the U.S. India plans to source roughly 10% of its cooking gas from the U.S. starting in 2026, potentially helping avoid tariffs and ease trade tensions.
In response, Saudi Aramco has cut its official selling prices for propane and butane to stay competitive.
