Hyundai recalls 135,386 2024–2025 Santa Fe SUVs over fire risk from a misaligned starter motor cover.
Hyundai is recalling 135,386 2024–2025 Santa Fe SUVs with a 2.5-liter turbocharged engine due to a fire risk from a starter motor cover that may not be fully seated, exposing the B+ terminal.
If the terminal contacts the cooling fan during a crash, it could cause an electrical short and fire.
The issue affects vehicles built between late 2023 and mid-2025, excluding hybrids and other trims.
No injuries or fires have been reported, but a thermal event occurred during NHTSA testing.
Owners will be notified starting December 1, 2025, and repairs will be free.
This is the fifth recall for the current Santa Fe generation.
