Houston Dash nearing $120M sale to 24-year-old Richard Hsiao, son of jailed Chinese billionaire, pending NWSL approval.
The Houston Dash is in advanced talks to be sold for $120 million to RHC Group, a firm linked to Richard Hsiao, 24, son of Chinese billionaire Jianhua Xiao, who is serving a 13-year prison sentence in China.
The NWSL is conducting due diligence on the ownership change, including the source of funds reportedly provided by Hsiao’s mother, Hongwen Zhou.
If approved by the league’s Board of Governors, the sale would make Hsiao the youngest owner of a major U.S. sports franchise.
Ted Segal would retain control of the Houston Dynamo, and the Dash would remain based in Houston.
The sale price exceeds the club’s prior $74 million valuation.
