Connecticut woman charged with trying to kill ex-partner by poisoning wine with antifreeze.
Kristen Hogan, 33, of Connecticut, faces two counts of attempted murder and one count of interfering with an officer after allegedly adding antifreeze to a bottle of wine consumed by a man she shares a child with.
The victim, 34, became severely ill in August, was hospitalized with ethylene glycol poisoning requiring dialysis and ICU care, and initially thought to have suffered a stroke.
Police say the victim believed Hogan was responsible, citing her access to the home and phone searches about lethal poison doses.
Lab tests confirmed ethylene glycol in the wine, and Hogan admitted to attempting to make the man sick as retaliation for alleged mental abuse, also claiming she added the substance to his iced tea on another occasion.
She allegedly lied about her whereabouts during a court date.
Hogan’s bail is set at $1 million.
Her attorney says she is a devoted mother and maintains her innocence.
The case is ongoing.
