Congress picks Naveen Yadav for Jubilee Hills by-election after MLA's death.
The Indian National Congress has nominated Naveen Yadav, a 41-year-old from the Backward Classes, as its candidate for the November 11, 2025, Jubilee Hills by-election in Telangana, following the death of BRS MLA Maganti Gopinath.
The decision, approved by AICC president Mallikarjun Kharge, was influenced by Yadav’s local ties and community representation, despite his prior losses as an AIMIM and Independent candidate.
The BRS has fielded Gopinath’s widow, Maganti Sunitha, while the BJP has not yet announced its candidate.
The Congress, which last held the seat in 2009, aims to reclaim it amid internal BRS challenges.
