Apple will expand its Emergency SOS via satellite feature to Mexico later this year, enabling iPhone 14 and newer models and Apple Watch Ultra to contact emergency services in remote areas without cellular or Wi-Fi.
The service, which uses low-Earth orbit satellites and is supported by Globalstar, allows text messaging, location sharing, and roadside assistance.
Already available in Canada, the U.K., and parts of Europe, the feature is free through 2026 for eligible devices and includes demo mode for practice.
Apple is also rolling out Messages via Satellite and Find My in Mexico, with future satellite internet potential.
The expansion requires coordination with local emergency systems and may pave the way for more Latin American launches.
