Yellowstone Art Museum cuts staff and events after 73% funding drop, leaving $50K for 2026.
The Yellowstone Art Museum in Billings has eliminated four staff positions and canceled two annual fundraising events due to a 73% drop in county funding, leaving it with just $50,000 for 2026.
The museum, which now receives only 6% of the county’s museum mill levy, faces $300,000 in annual operating costs and a $400,000 roof repair project, with $25,000 spent on emergency repairs recently.
Executive Director Jessica Ogdin called the cuts the most severe in her tenure, though the museum remains committed to free admission and showcasing regional art.
