Muskogee County deputies arrested Edgar Mendoza Delgado and Thelma Vasquez Vargas after they attempted to pick up over $30,000 in meat from Watson Farms Meat Market in Council Hill, part of a suspected fraud scheme involving stolen credit cards.
Investigators believe the pair were linked to a larger operation based in Houston, Texas, and had used disputed charges to obtain goods worth an estimated $60,000—potentially nearly $100,000—over nearly a month.
The business, which had no prior experience with such fraud, discovered the scam after a sting operation.
Authorities praised the store’s preservation of surveillance and messages, which aided the investigation.
Similar incidents have occurred in Rogers County, and the Watsons have since implemented stricter security measures, including in-person payments and driver’s license checks.
