Steven Jones runs to honor his grandfather’s leukemia death, raising funds for UK charity Leukaemia Care.
Steven Jones, 51, of Bicester, will run the Royal Parks Half Marathon on October 12 to honor his grandfather, Jim Burke, who died of leukemia 25 years ago.
The event supports Leukaemia Care, a UK charity aiding blood cancer patients and families.
Jones, who began training this year, has raised over £1,000 despite knee injuries.
He says his grandfather’s death and recent personal experiences inspired his run.
Leukaemia Care’s chief executive praised his efforts, noting about 10,000 leukemia diagnoses occur annually in the UK and that donations support essential services.
The charity expressed gratitude and wished Jones well.
