An original 1975 white label test pressing of Queen’s “Bohemian Rhapsody” sold for nearly $12,000 at the fifth annual White Label Auction, which supports the Brit Trust, a music charity.
The rare vinyl, made for internal review before release, was among items from artists like The Beach Boys, Dire Straits, Genesis, and Eric Clapton.
“Bohemian Rhapsody,” written by Freddie Mercury, was Queen’s first UK number-one single and returned to the top in 1991 after Mercury’s death.
Queen is releasing a vinyl reissue of *A Night at the Opera* on October 17, including a transparent blue picture disc and blue cassette single on October 31.
The auction has raised over $215,000 for the charity in prior years.
