New Zealand parents raise $10K for rare brain-condition therapy in Australia for their 15-month-old son.
Whakatāne parents Tamara Holland-Goodwin and Leon Woodward are fundraising $10,000 for their 15-month-old son Arlo to receive intensive therapy in Rotorua, a program based in Australia, after he was diagnosed with bilateral perisylvian polymicrogyria, a rare brain condition affecting movement, speech, and swallowing.
Arlo, who has cerebral palsy, an oral aversion, and uses a feeding tube, is unable to sit or bear weight independently.
Though he receives some support through New Zealand’s Child Disability Services, his parents seek the specialized therapy to help him reach developmental milestones, believing it could significantly improve his future despite uncertain outcomes.
