Nebraska approved two medical cannabis cultivation licenses, with two applicants denied and appeals possible.
The Nebraska Medical Cannabis Commission approved two initial cultivation licenses, awarding them to a grower in Omaha and one in Raymond, after a six-day delay past the Oct. 1 deadline.
The decision followed a confidential scoring process requiring a 70-point average, with two applicants denied, including initiative lead Crista Eggers.
Denied applicants have until Oct. 23 to appeal, and two more licenses may be awarded if appeals succeed.
Each approved cultivator can grow up to 1,250 plants per harvest, with two annual harvests, potentially serving up to 20,000 patients.
The commission, now down to three members, will not attend the Oct. 15 public hearing on regulations.
A final decision on all four licenses is pending, with the next meeting set for Nov. 3.
