Missouri seeks to remove Sheriff Montgomery over undisputed misconduct; hearing Oct. 29, trial Nov.
Missouri Attorney General Catherine Hanaway’s office has filed a motion seeking to remove St. Louis Sheriff Alfred Montgomery from office without a trial, citing uncontested evidence of misconduct including using department vehicles to transport Montgomery’s children, failing to provide medical transport for inmates over 60 times, and unlawfully detaining a jail official.
The motion, based on undisputed facts, argues Montgomery violated the public trust and forfeited his right to hold office.
A hearing is set for October 29, with a trial scheduled for November.
Montgomery faces a separate misdemeanor indictment and has lost a legal challenge to a city ordinance requiring inmate medical transport.
