Maui hosts climate meeting Oct. 9 to address disaster risks, water scarcity, and equity amid worsening climate impacts.
Maui County will host a climate change meeting on October 9, 2025, featuring experts discussing regional vulnerabilities, resilience strategies, and the state’s Draft Hawaii Climate Action Pathways.
Presenters include University of Hawai’i and Geos Institute researchers, along with state climate officials, who will address how climate change is intensifying natural disasters, threatening food and water security, and disproportionately impacting vulnerable communities.
The session, chaired by Councilmember Gabe Johnson, aims to inform policy amid ongoing climate emergencies and water scarcity challenges on Maui.
The meeting will be livestreamed online and on local cable.
